Rear License Plate Light
« on: July 22, 2011, 12:11:24 AM »

Hi All, I have a 2009 CVO road glide and I recently had my painter paint the Chrome rear license plate light along with a matching frame tonight I took off the old housing and went to install the new one but I have one question, on the original light there was a reflector that was attached to a rubber gasket and I cut it off now when I am installing the new light do I need to re install that rubber gasket that the reflector was attached to? my concern is that it will rub on the paint? I tried a test fit and it looks pretty secure but the last thing I want to do is scratch up the fender. If I do need this gasket does anyone have the part number? when I originally cut that hideous reflector off I didn't do it evenly and took a chunk of the rubber housing with it.

Thank you for all your help.

You do not need the gasket that was attached to the reflector.  You do need the rectangular gasket which is attached to the plate mounting bracket.

Great thanks for the quick response, just so I am clear the rectangular piece is on the back and the wire goes through it and through the fender? thanks and sorry I am a rookie at some of this stuff.
