My saddlebag lid came off
« on: August 05, 2011, 09:02:53 AM »

So here I am on a trip from Ohio to DC. Went down to the hotel garage last night to get something out of my saddlebag.  Opened it up and the lid came off in my hand.  I stood there bewildered.  Huh?

There are five screws that hold the lid to the hinge through a backing plate on the inside of the lid. Schedule didn't permit waiting till HD opens. Off to Lowes early for the torx screw driver in the right size. They didn't carry the right length screw.  I found one screw on the hinge and cannibalized two from the other side.  Added small torx drivers and Loctite to the travel pack.  Glad I had the GPS to get me around the labyrinth of DC freeways to Lowes. I used to be a purist and use only maps and directions. No more.

Check em. My other side was loose, too, although they were all there.
