Another gesture we use in Europe is to wave with your foot, by wave I mean just to raise your right foot off the foot peg and out towards the other rider as you overtake other riders, obviously its not possible to take your right hand off the throttle and complete your overtaking manouvre.
Again this is just a gesture of acknowledgement or friendship to a fellow rider.

I wondered what that meant. A while back I was passed on PCH by a group of sport bike riders. The leader of the pack kept taking his right foot and sticking it out. Not being a smart ass, but I thought he was stretching he legs. Mine used to get cramped when I rode sport bikes and I used to stretch them that way.

At 6'4" I still do that.....even on my Harley.  I'm almost afraid to ask the next question.....what does it mean in Europe when you stick your left foot out and shake it all about?  Here in America we just call it.................the hokey pokey!  ???

I wave to everybody, I don't wave at Rallys, just to many people/bikes. I am so glad to be riding and not stuck in an office at work that I'm glad to see other bikers, scooters, etc....

I agree with Dave (Wrongway) it can be a very good way to help to know what is ahead  :2vrolijk_21:

 Open road , have fun

 Cop ahead, watch your speed

 Hazard, Slow your speed

 All good stuff
 Ride safe and ride often

I had that happen to me at MBBW one year... guess the wife didn't appreciate as much as I did the chick on the bike w/her vest open "airing out the puppies". ;D ;D
