Mustang super vintage touring seat on a '12
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:27:06 PM »

It does not fit with the fender rail in place. I'd like to keep the rails, but that means dremelling the seat and I think taking too much support out. Anyone dremelled a seat and with what results?

Dayne,, are you talking about the passenger pillion?   If you are, I have mine mounted with the fender rails still on.    What I did was cut off the rear bumpers that come on the back of the seat.   I used a wire cutters.  They were easy to cut off also. I piunded the area smooth with a ball peen hammer then pit a little black paint over it  Then I just mount it with a phillips head seat screw.  Looks and fits perfectly.   I can post a pic if you need to see it.  Stuart.

It's the one piece seat, but the issue is under the passenger pillion. My seat is plastic underneath, and taking enough off the sides of the contact patch to clear those rails , I think may have caused some instability and, in turn, marking of the fender paint. I did take the rails off...they are glued on...not taped like the fork leg reflectors.....and barely holding on there, they came off VERY easily with almost no residue. On a hot day they might have gone missing.

Now, lookin' for a detachable solo rack (other than Harley's, it looks too utilitarian) to cover up the 'bareness' of the fender.

Thats why I purchased the Corbin Gambler you do not have to remove anything, And with a dremel you can make the solo seat that came with the bike go on also.
So you get both looks or setups.

I already had the Mustang from the '08....and both my BSR and myself found it very comfy for the longer trips.

Just put a couple thousand km's on the Mustang...as comfy as it was on the Ultra...just need the Ergo bars installed to make better use of the backrest.
