Thought maybe an interest to some of you, our experimenting here in Australia..

We have fewer choices on exhaust, as the only way to get it to Oz is by container load to make it affordable.  One of the only serious ones here is V&H.  If you tried to get a one off by Air Freight, the cost would make you pass out.. heh he..  :coolblue:

Now in our Tourers, the Cat is in the collector, before the cross over tube...  Some of us, me included, like the clean look of the stock exhaust.  In the collector part of the exhaust where the two pipes come together is where the Cat is enclosed.  Easy cut and shut on the panel on the inside, enclosed is a picture of the big cat...  On a 103 c.i. Street Glide with a stock exhaust headers and Monster Ovals, the Dyno results before and after Cat removal was 10 HP !!  That is far more than anyone thought...
Hope this might be of use to some of you...

Change the pipe, you'll be way ahead of the game when it comes to tuning it...

dlhovland,I think if you lose the cat, open up the air intake and put in a stage one kit from Fulsac you will be quite pleased. I used the 1.75 baffles that Fulsac sells and I think the sound is just right for a touring bike. It is a little louder than stock and sounds great when you hit the throttle. I noticed on a dyno  post I saw earlier today that there is a big difference in HP and TQ from stock to Fulsac stage one. The mileage two up with luggage is still really good.CAHDBIKER

CaHdbiker Thanks for the reply. yes I am leaning towards the 1.75 baffles. I had Vance and Hines ovals on my last bike. after a couple of hours to loud.
