Rear tire options for 09 SERG
« on: September 07, 2011, 11:11:05 PM »

Its time to replace the rear tire on my SERG. The dealer wants $370 Canadian, plus labour. With taxes thats gonna be atleast $450. I looked into ordering something online but the OEM Dunlop isnt available. Any suggestion where I could buy one or possible tire options.

HD has done a great job restricting the sale of the D407 and D408 to HD dealers only.  Sucks!  There are dealers in the US that will give 20% off.  I got about 17,000 miles out of my last rear on the SERG.  You could try the Metzler tire and save some money but you'll loose alot of mileage.   :nixweiss:   :nixweiss:

BTW, I have since gone to a Progressive Monotube front suspension and Suspension Technologies rear shocks.  I am hopeful that stops the cupping issue....

Near Edmonton. I may go into Montana before the end of the season and have a tire installed there. With the lower price and no sales tax i'll easily save $100.

not many options out there for the 180/55/18 right now, i hope that changes. :nixweiss:
i did try the avon cobra for three rear tires. :nixweiss: i've gone back to the stock dunlops for now.  to obtain the 408f and 407 you got to go through a HD dealer.  :-[  proprietary
