Rinehart Cross-Back vs Vance & Hines Big Shots
« on: August 01, 2011, 03:33:27 PM »

Does anyone have any experience with either the Cross-Backs or the Big Shots on an 04 SE Deuce?  I had my dyno'ed and was told it was choked up by the stock air cleaner cover and the exhaust (RINEHART 2-2).  Only put out @ 73 hp.  Any suggestions?  Stock engine with Green hi-flo filter, Rinehart pipes, and Power Commander.

Thanks.

I don't have any feedback on the Rineharts but my '03 88" CI Deuce with S & S 510G Cams, SE Aircleaner and V & H Big Shot staggereds pulled 82 HP & 96TQ. My brothers 2004 88" CI Deuce, S & S 510G cams, SE aircleaner, V & H Big Radius and an S & S carb, made about 8 more HP. If memory serves me correctly I think the cams gave me an extra 6 or 8 HP and about the same increase of torque.

My tuner told me that the Big Shots were probably loosing a little HP/TQ compared to a 2-1 pipe but I loved the sound of the those Big Shots. A SE air cleaner will make a big difference over the stock setup.

Hope this helps.

Also, don't get too hung up on dyno numbers. Depending on the temperature, humidity, elevation, air quality and especially the calibration of the dyno results will vary wildly.

I was hoping for some feedback from someone who has tried both. I'm wanting to go to Cross backs on my springer because my Bub 7 slip ons are chocking me down.

I don't want to make the same mistake again.
