Need help!
« on: June 03, 2006, 02:12:49 PM »

I bought my 06 flhtcuse in Jan 06 from Durango, Col. At that time  , they told me, to install the pipes scremin eagle item #6511-98b I would also have to have a race tuner kit. item #32107-01d, and air cleaner kit. Since there tech was not there at the time they would deliver the the bike to my home in AZ the following week. When they delivered the bike, it was hard to start. after warming up it seemed to run fine.I took the bike in for the 1k to Tucson HD. They informed me, the bike had other issues, that the plugs were black. after investigation. they told me that durango had installed the wrong download. they had put in 127mk004, Tucson put in 127hx004. but did not tune the bike on the dyno, something I was not told about until a later date. when I got the bike back, it still had cold start problems, it pops on decelration, and pings on accelerations. I took the bike back to tucson, where they supposedly tuned it on the dyno, when i got it back, the problems are still there.the service manger at Tucson asked me if i had concederd having the bike tuned at a performance shop other then a HD shop!! I have had the bike almost 6 mo now and it still does not run right!! does anyone know a HD shop in AZ, NM, OR TX, that has a tech that can tune this bike correctly? I feel I have been getting a run around since day 1. Also the front motor mount went after 3000 miles. after paying $35,000 for a top of the line HD. I am at my wits end can anyone help? thanks twincam

twincam,

Go see Nick Trask, Custom Performane 623-879-8488, South of Deer Valley.

He can get your bike running the way it should, excellent tuning & dyno faciltiy close to you. Excellent tuner with SERT.

Also Matt Gross is not to far way from you, Matt has a website HD Maps.com, also EFI & Tuning Instructor at MMI, teachs around the US at HD Dealers, so may be difficult to reach. Nick, will do a great job.

Has anyone used maps from the H-D Maps website?  How well do they work?

Yea dam shame the dealers can't pay the good techs enough to keep them at the HD shops!! Guess the owners could not get rich if they did. The things we put up with to stay in the wind!!!!!! But chit man wouldnt have it any other way! thanks for the reply

Let me confirm that you DID have the dealer install the SE mufflers 65115-98B & the SE air cleaner?  If that is correct then you have the very same set-up I installed on my CUSE this spring and it runs great.  I looked at your SERT map (calibration #19, file 127MK004-B0-MT6) and it is for 2005 FLSTFSE, 1690 CVO w/ SE mufflers.

Not exactly sure what is different about this engine and ours but I loaded map #36, file 141MP002-A1.MT6.  This map is for FLHTCUSE with 25 deg injectors (which our bike has & this may be the difference causing your problem); SE air cleaner & SE mufflers 65115-98B.

Not exactly sure when this software version came out but it may not have been out when your dealer did your bike.  I think if you will have this map loaded your bike will run fine.  Then you can have it dyno'd for max performance if you want.

Also, there were several threads about this early this spring.  If I have time I'll try to find and post a link to them.

Hope this helps.
