I'm not positive, but I think the latching relay is a internal part of the switch.....therefore the reason they can hammer you.

That does change the equation.  Actually impressed if they put that part in the switch.

Well I was able to show the dealers technician the malfuction.  They are replacin the switch.  There is no latching relay external to the switch.  I did some investigation in the wire diagrams.  The only on contacts in the circuits are the switch contacts.  the exception is the spot lamps which are turned off with the high beam circuit.

They have to make some money on it.  I seriously doubt they are gouging.
It should be a warranty replacement anyway.  What's everybody do up in arms about?  I don't get it.

I don't think anyone is "up in arms" about it, just commenting on how the price Harley charges for simple stuff has escalated.  It's not a new concept, they've been overcharging for bikes and parts and accessories for a very long time.

Initially the original poster did not identify what model year bike he was talking about, so someone just mentioned the price in case it wasn't a warranty repair.  Since we later found that the bike is brand new, then the price thing is moot for the original poster (assuming his half azzed dealership figures out how to fix a defective switch problem).  But it might be of interest to anyone with a similar switch on a bike that isn't still covered by the warranty.  $115 for a switch they probably buy for $10 max in China or Mexico is a rip off, but it's not unusual.  Buy some spare parts for a boat or RV some time, Harley isn't the only company out there with jewelry store markups.
