Race Tuner
« on: September 02, 2011, 08:55:24 PM »

My son is looking at a Thundermaxx with autotune and now he's got me looking.
Anyone have experience with this unit on a '09 SE with 110 motor?
Mine runs good but you know a little better is always good, lol.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Had one on my 07 SEUC. It seemed to run good as i remember. Been looking at one my self for my FLTRUSE. But kinda leaning towards the TTS. For the money the TTS cant be beat. The thundermax is pricey..

Thanks for the response,
the difference I was told is that with the Thundermaxx autotune, you don't have to have it dynoed after the install.
20% range variation. Guy I rode with had it on his '10 SE Ultra and he loved it. Caveat, he always adds the high dollar accessories if possible, lol.
Just thinking TTS & dyno might be about the same price, Just thinkin.

I put the TMax tuner on my 09, ran great! Ran even better when I added a 58mm T Body and DD 2 into 1.

The lack of necessity to tune with Thundermax can't be assumed.  The base maps aren't always terribly close.  Sometimes they'e actually far off.  And counting on Zippers itself for assistance as an end user is a crap shoot at best.

The hardware is capable.  But it'd be nice to know you had a local tuner to rely on to get it dialed in close to begin with before letting the system take over for itself.  Either that or be willing and able to make a handful of monotonous tuning rides carrying the laptop to dial it in.

No sweat and good luck as you proceed.  There are other options also.  The TTS package and the Power Commander latest version have self tuning (fuel management only, just like T-Max) capabilities.  All need to be dialed in to get them "good" though.  Might also consider the EMS kit from Revolution Performance.  It hasn't been flawless for everyone (none of them have).  But for nearly everyone it has been the plug, play and forget it kit that it is advertised to be.
