Anybody Play the Banjo?

Ok at 54 I want to work on a dream of playing an instrument and its a Banjo. So, I am looking for advice.......

I think that fella from "Deliverance" is giving private lessons. :o. Actually heard some interesting things about that scene, wasn't even supposed to be in the movie, it just "happened".

I have one also and haven't picked it up for years. My suggestion is that you start playing "clawhammer style", in my opinion its easier and your playing tunes before you know it. Here is a good resource if your going to do it on your own. Doc

Ask anybody that plays strings........don't start with with the Banjo, its the toughest one. Fram playing might be the best way! HARD HARD HARD

Stumming (clawhammer) isn't too bad, picken (bluegrass) is really tough. Give it at least three months and decide if its for you or not. Doc
