CB?
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:38:46 PM »

Ashamed to say, in all my years of bagger riding I have NEVER once turned on my CB.... in fact I'll hve to read the book on how to.  Anyway, a friend of mine rides a GW so I figure I should use my CB... is it worth a poop at say a quarter mile????

When I ride with my friends that are on Goldwings, I always use my CB.  The Harley CB is far better than the honda one and we all get to communicate.

I go back to when the CB was used to thwart the 55MPH by truckers (What's your handle, Good Buddy??, Smokey in a Plain Brown Wrapper, etc).  Is there a specific channel (out of 40) that are used by either the entire "scoot" network or just by H-D riders (maybe one for CVO only)? :nixweiss: :confused5:

I use the CB when riding with others that use them. When by myself on the road I use Ch 19 to keep an ear on the truckers. Amongst bikes it usually Ch 14 or 17. I prefer the hand held mic.

The CB is great. I've always got it on. You'll know where every "bear" is, how to get around traffic, which lanes are open in the event of an accident, etc. The range is 5 miles plus depending on the terrain. I don't ride without it!!

On our last ride we had 10 riders with 6 bikes having CB's. Besides talking crap about your buddies that don't have one,(lol) it plays a big roll with safety. I lead alot of the rides and when it come to passing cars it's nice to talk to the others and tell them if the "coast is clear".
