What types of (Brand) helmets are you using?  I was wondering if anyone has used the ARAI 3/4 that J&M sells.  I recently read a test in motorcycle magazine that and Eclipse full face helmet beat every other helmet tested and it sells for under $100.00.  http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/gearbox/motorcycle_helmet_review/   My next question is, will the J&M comms fit in most of these helmets or do you need to stick with the helmets they sell?  I don't want to buy an expensive helmet to find out the electronics wont fit.
J&Ms will work with just about every single helmet...if in doubt give their customer service a call or send them an email.  They have great customer service.

Cheers,  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I decided on the J&M Arai Profile. Arai makes a great helmet and J&M does a really clean job installing the headset. They install the speakers inside the liner in such a way that they don't interfere with your ears. With this helmet the sound is excellent! I also picked up the J&M short antennas to replace the whips. Thanks for the suggestions!  :)

We're having inflatable ear bladders tested for use in our flight helmets.  The test is for crash attenuation.  NASCAR already uses them and they're great for getting a good seal around the ear cup and for sound attenuation.  I will also incorporate the use of molded eaphones as well, which we already use.  You don't really see a lot of this type application in the motorcycle world.  I'll let you all know how it works out when I get a prototype finished.

You would be able to use the J&M speakers with this setup if you did not like the custom molded ear pieces.

I bring this up in response to the spacer comment to get the speakers closer to your ears. The ear bladders solve that issue.

Some of you may already be using this setup, if so let me know so I don't have to duplicate work.

Try a company called Big Ears?  They are at most bike shows.

I've seen those, there are quite few vendors that make a better product than those but you'd never see tham at a motorcycle show.  I was more interested in the intigration with the J&M system.

A few of the vendors are here at the Shot Show (Orlando) right now.

That's the helmet we use ordered direct from J&M pre installed (went to a Honda shop get a fit (head size) for the arai) then went and ordered the helmet online with the headset pre-installed.

When you go to the Honda shop be careful not to fall or trip over the string trimmers or lawnmowers  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

I am aware of at least 5/6 stock HD headsets that had a faulty wire or two.  Seceral were in the coiled cord and others between on ear piece or the other.  The dealer tested them and replaced them on the spot.

Locating the speakers inside the helmet so they just brush your ear works very well.  Maybe my hearing is off after years being near loud bikes and cars; however, the factory units work well enough for me when thay sit right near the ear. I use foam rubber and industrial velcro to position them just right. I would love to try the other units and sure will buy them when I neeed another set. Thanks for the info.

This may be a stupid question, but any idea which pin series cord is needed for the 12CUSE? Looking at the Nolan N-43E helmets on jmcorp and at the bottom of the page it states:
You will need to choose a Z-series (for 629 headset) or a P-series (for 279 headset) lower-section 8-pin hook-up cord for proper connection of the J&M/Nolan integrated helmet headset to your specific audio system.
When you click on the Z and the P link they have fitments for 2012 H-Ds. Not sure what I am missing here.

What's a ZJ? HA if you have to ask big man, you cant afford it!!
