Jiffy Stand Extension
« on: October 02, 2011, 12:25:38 PM »

Has anyone got one of these?  They offer two styles now, and this is apparently a new one.  In function, does this allow the rider to more easily reach the jiffy stand to get it UP?  I don't have any problems getting it down, but in certain situations I have difficulty reaching it to bring it back up.  My legs are too short.  I assume one must drill a hole in the jiffy stand to mount it, and I also assume it does not hang down any further?

Answered my own question...bought one and installed it this morning.  Looks good, works great.  Mounts differently than the old style, and looks a little better, IMO.  Allows me to reach the stand to bring it back up much more easily, and makes getting it down easier too (easier to catch with your heel/toe).

PDF instructions attached.

I just got one also, and it works great.  Makes it a lot easier to get at, swing, and engage the Jiffy Stand.  I would recommend using duct tape when center punching for the drill, mine was a little off but it's something only I will notice.

Didn't know Mother Harley had such a part.  Have home-made something similar for a couple of vertically challenged friends over the years.  TC, maybe you just need to be stretched a little bit?  Could be an event for the next MV ::) ?

It's aparently a new version.  Nicely made though.  Hell, it ought to be at $39.95 for a piece of bent steel with holes drilled in it and then chromed.

Funny you should say that...I showed it to Judi, told here how much it cost...with the cost of the Legends, this, and various other things due to being vertically challenged, her first words were:  "Maybe we should consider getting your legs stretched...it might be cheaper."

Certainly wouldn't want to do it with a 110.  Would suck if you were longer on one side than the other because an engine crapped out in mid stretch ??? .

installed the original style on both our touring bikes years ago, very functional.  I do remember drilling the mounting hole in the stand was no fun.. Went through three good bits to punch through that hard azz metal..  Anyone remember that?   :confused5:

Here's a couple of pics I snapped just to show how it looks for those who haven't seen this version.

Retracted...even if you don't need it due to leg length, it makes it a heck of a lot easier to kick the jiffy stand down.

Chit, that's cheap.  I just bought a set of those magnetic glove box doors for $49.95 and they aren't even chromed!

You're gonna' like those, Jerry.  They do just what we were talking about at Ribfest...I've only had mine on a month or so, but really find them super convenient...hell, I'm actually using the lower boxes now!
