How low can you go?
« on: October 24, 2011, 02:57:41 PM »

Just wondering if anyone has installed a FBI lowering kit on their '09 and newer bike?

http://store.fatbaggers.com/drsekitop.html

I saw one this past weekend and couldn't believe how low it makes a FL's seat height.
With the installation of the H-D front & rear kit and the FBI kit the seat was somehere around 4" lower than stock height.

I sat on it to see how the bars etc. felt, and seemed pretty comfortable... Would like to try riding it though.

Apparently the fellow how owns this bike is all of 4'11" and manages it quite well.

Just wondered if anyone has this and how they find the ride?

I don't know anyone who's tried this, but just looking at that bike with it done...something to think about...it looks like the angle from the bucket part of the seat up to the tank is pretty steep.  That might cause issues with the 'nads getting uncomfortable after a while.   :nixweiss:

You can always put a notch down the middle like the bicycle seats. :huepfenlol2:

Terrie and I sit on a bike that had the FBI seat drop kit installed at Eagles Nest HD awhile back.  We didn't ride it.....just set on it.  The seat did seem to be wider than a normal seat or our Corbin.......she said it spread her legs out to wide to the point where she didn't feel like there was much advantage. :nixweiss:

I sat on one at the J&P Cycles open house last summer. They said the FBI conversion lowered the seat height by 3 inches. FBI had lowered the bike an inch in the front and back, it was really confortable when I sat on the bike. I was in the process of trying to figure out what to do to my bike at the time. I wanted the conversion kit but decided not to because it was $3200, it replaced the stock seat therefore no heated seat and backrests were an additional charge, and you needed new side panels. CVO panels were extra charge, since they needed to be painted to match. I liked how deep you sat into the bike and a short winshield worked out really well. If I buy a stock Street Glide someday maybe I'll convert it over.I would really like to ride one also. I wonder if the ride quality would be conpromised due to the reduction in shock travel and seat thickness?

You almost always give up something when lowering the suspension, IMO.

I like the look, and on a Street Glide, especially.  It would be interesting to know how comfortable that set up is for long hauls.  Bar hopping...no problem.
