Magnetic glove box doors with a twist
« on: November 19, 2011, 11:50:30 PM »

I just installed the HD magnetic glove box doors, and they are quite an improvement over the original snap ons.  I wasn't happy with the HW that came with the kit for the bottom edge (black button heads), so I decided to try something different.

mattm, nice touch with the chrome bolts. I noticed in the picture that you have the chrome air baffle. Does it stop wind from coming up between the tank and the fairing. I think I would remove it in summer because I tend to ride in some very hot  weather, but even in  SO Cal it can get cool when you come home late at night during the winter months. Just wondered.CAHDBIKER

Nice touch, Ive been waiting for a non locking set of one handed doors, do the magnets seal securely?

The magnets grab very securely. I have no worries about coming open while riding.  The chrome air baffle works pretty well I guess.  I get less buffeting with it on. As far as removing it when hot, don't bother. I leave it on all the time, and I ride in 100+ degree weather all during the summer here it Texas.  Makes no difference in oil temp.

I also found that you can use the HD license plate HW here as well.  So that opens the door to all those parts (including skulls)

well made accessory, the little magnets are super strong for their size, no problem with them opening by accident.

I found a Skull & Bones chrome frame at Auto-Zone, ruby red (plastic) eyes. Secured w/ 5/16" Allen drive, black cap screws, bronze washers, and stainless nylon bushing lock nuts. I had a photo, then the water heater failed and my photo file got filled with insurance claim photos. (There's another thread.)
