7.25 vrs Rokker
« on: December 06, 2011, 04:32:15 PM »

Has anyone installed the (fronts only) Rokker's without the amp?  How would you rate them at speed (over 75) and clarity?  These stock speakers just don't cut it.....  wanted to get the 7.25s but now with the rokkers I just don't know...

I installed the standard 7.25 in my '08 FLTRI, and I never have to use over 60% of available volume with the stock HK radio (no amp).  They sound great - just don't expect much bass response at hwy speeds.  We also put a set in Mattm's 05' CUSE with the same results.

Not trying to be a jerk, but if you do a search on 'Rokker', you will find a bunch of threads. Opinions on this vary greatly, and even when a guy gets good reviews, they sometimes comeback disappointed. I think they're pretty good, but the last guy thought we might have steered him wrong, so I'd recommend reading these threads so you can form your own opinion.

Good luck.

I've just ordered 4 J&M Rokker speakers from Dr V-Twin to replace the Boom audio one's on my 12 CVO Ultra.
They said the stock 160w amp is plenty to drive them.
Hope they get here soon so I can install them before I have to store the bike for winter.

Sir, would you please post your opinion after you install them, I would very much appreciate that.   Thank you, I'll look forward to seeing your post!!   :)

Well.... I guess I am the odd man out.

I have the set of 4 -- the fronts (7.25) and the rears.  I am using the stock amp.  2011 SEUG6.

The sound is loose, bass is not solid, highs are washed out.........Max volume is at 60% of bars.  More does nothing. There seems to be insufficient power.

I ride at 80 all of the time, can't hear any commentator, can't clearly hear the GPS lady and forget the words of the song.

I know I am on an open motorcycle, with loud pipes going 80 ..... so, no need to flame. I know too much can be be expected....so, please no need to flame.

In the end, I would  not recommend the spend to anyone.  Just not worth all the hard cash. Not significantly better than the stockers.

What to do for me...... I don't know.....

I installed Rokkers in upper and lower with  their 250 amp and have no problem hearing music at 80 m.p.h. BSR listens to music on her iphone with earbuds and has previously told me to cut my music down because it was so loud she could not hear hers.

Umm, didn't we talk about the various amp options in your original thread??  I mentioned my 250w amp running the 2 fairing mounted 7.25" Rokkers and using the stock 160w amp to run the 7.25" lower mounted Rokkers and the rears , and Fatbagger later talked about his 500w set up.

I'm just not getting how today's post is now a new revelation?   :nixweiss:

Either way, there are scores of folks here that live around the country who I'm sure would be happy to demo their set ups. If you're even near Chicago, I'd be glad to let anyone take a listen to mine. Might be a good idea to do some listening before dropping anymore dough.

Remember that a 2011 SE Ultra has a 80 W amp and the 2012 has a 160W amp.
Also did you get the Rokker series 7.25" or just the regular ones, all this can make quite a difference
