Exhaust note question
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:37:26 PM »

Picked up my new scooter today.  Bike has TTS, Fullsac X pipe, and 2.0 cores in the stock cans.  I was surprised on how good it sounded, a little quieter than i would like, but it sounds good.  How does the Fullsac 2.0 or 2.25 cores compare to the exhaust note of the V&H High Inputs?  Tone and volume?  I really want to go with a black system, I can send the stock cans out for coating, or just buy the V&H High Outputs???????

Take a 200 mi ride and you will be amazed how loud seemingly quiet mufflers get after a few hours at highway speeds, I would think your set up should be perfect.

RIO, Steve at Fulsac said his 2.25 core was not as loud as Rinehart's, When i was in Daytona i went to Rhinehart listened to their 4" slip on then went straight to V&H and listend to the HI OUTPUTS, As far as loudness they are about the same, But the HO's have a deeper tone.

I have had 4 exhaust systems on my scooter in the 5 yrs. I went with the HO's and will not change again, Best sound that i have ever heard. The group that i ride with all of them are happy as well they say they can hear their radio and/or their bike. LOL   :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Rio, I would wait a while before you spend any more money because once the fiberglass wrapping gets a little burned up. I am assuming you put yours back in, your exhaust  will become louder. I have the Fulsac 1.75s. Yes they are quiet, but I an noticing a slight increase in sound since I installed them. That was 8Kmiles ago. That is a long time for some people and a short time for some of the guys on the site. Good Luck CAHDBIKER

Thanks guys,  actually I would be OK with my current set up, probably happier with the 2.25 baffles.  The only reason I was considering the V&H high outputs versus keeping the Fullsac set up is color.  This bike has a lot of bling and shine, I was thinking a ceramic black coated system would really look good on the bike with the deep red, and black accents.  I can buy black heat shields and keep the Fullsac X pipe but then I would have to find a black muffler set and thats where the V&H High Outputs enter the picture.  I was told I can have the stock cans powder coated for $200, but I'm not so sure how that would turn out?  This is the only reason I am thinking of doing anything?  If I go with the V&H, I can offset some of the expense by selling the stock cans with the 2.0 cores.

But I do agree, I only got to ride it 5 miles or so, but it really runs and performs well with the current set up

Just like cahdbiker, the Fullsac 2.25" with OEM packing in my bike seem to be getting louder the more miles I get. I know it's not the same bike as yours. I don't know who this 09SEUC belongs to. For me I don't like the looks of his Black mufflers and Chrome headpipes. It is black on the bottom like yours. IMO

Thanks guys.  I decided to keep the current set up considering the bike is tuned and runs well.  I did order the 2.25 cores today and more than likely I will sell the 2.0 once I hear them and like em?

Keep us posted. Very interested to learn if you can "hear" a difference between the 2.00" and 2.25" cores.

No talk of that here in Michigan, but we do have helmet laws?  If the previous Govenor stayed in office, I'm sure that would have been on the table along with mandatory training wheels?  I'm not sure the 2.25 are much louder, but I was told they were a little deeper tones?  I am used to Rineharts, as I get older, I'm OK with going a little quieter but I don't want to give up on that deep tone.  I thought the 2.0 sounded good, I will try the 2.25's and go from there.
