« on: November 28, 2011, 03:11:02 PM »

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone has any input regarding S&S Power Tune Duals, just looking at another head pipe option. Will be using my Rinehart slip-ons.Thanks for any information anyone has on these.

I was just looking them up yesterday, out of curiosity only.  An informative thread on another site: http://harleytechtalk.org/htt/index.php/topic,34353.0/all.html

Looking at the picture in that thread of the inside area near the "interconnect", I'd have to wonder if using them on '10+ bikes would work well in terms of O2 sensor location and possible crosstalk, not that that sensor location pertains to the pipes under discussion there.  The later-model version of those pipes aren't quite so low at the crossover, judging by pictures in the installation manuals for both versions.  The PDF manuals can be fetched from the maker's website:  http://www.khromewerks.com/hp_exhaust.htm

I'd noted but didn't consider these this summer, and would heartily recommend what I went with for my new ride.  The Fullsac x-pipe.  http://www.fullsac.com/x-pipe.html  You can use this (and any similar) exhaust on an older-generation frame by changing to a newer-model oil pan (if your bike ain't so old it's not compatible with it).

Thanks for the link you provided, I've read alot about Fulsac and how satisfied everyone is that do run them. Just curious about the S&S but have only read from one poster installing on an 09 and newer model and he was extremely happy with the results. Still have lots of time to decide, thx again.

just put them on my '11 SESG with the Fullsac 2.25" baffles and a SERT. Runs like a bear. absolutely love it. my mechanic recommended the S&S head pipe b/c he's had nothing but great experience with it. :orange:

Looking better and better, rec'd, I think, a good price from a vendor on roadglide.org, $419.95 and free shipping, sound reasonable?

I have the S&S header as well on my SESG2. As noted in my thread - the install is more difficult than with some other headers but once you land them home one of the best looking headers I've seen (imho of course). My install issue could have just been my particular set - I called S&S and gave their engineering dept feedback so maybe it has been addressed.

Anyway ... I really like mine:

The spread for the cylinders was extremely tight.
I actually had to remove the brake pedal arm to get them on (first time I've had to do that for a header install).

The slip joint for the crossover pipe wasn't cut right; I had to add a small cut to get the crossover to seat properly.
I was cussin' them for sure during install, but now that they are on, I'm all smiles  :)
