Need hid headlight help!!!!
« on: December 01, 2011, 12:01:30 AM »

So I installed my hid kit in 2011 street glide.  They work great until you go to start the bike then they go out do the starter draw.  Does anyone have any suggestions??

You should run a relay from the battery to handle the load and protect the circuits.  I had trouble with mine until I did this.

A better solution is to use the acc switch to provide the power to the relay. The ACC switch also is an on/off switch to the headlights which can be a lifesaver if you ever have a charging system failure and need to preserve battery life. I have HID lights in all my bikes and found this solution solves the problem of the headlight going off sometimes when starting. I've also learned cheap relays fail way too often, so get a sealed heavy duty 50 amp relay.
