Hi,
I am busy making the leather tor pak on my 07 FLHTCUSE detachable but would like to reposition the intercom connector close the the bsr with the tour pak removed. The intercom connector appears to be securely fixed inside the left hand side speaker pod. If anyone has managed to disassemble the intercom connector from the speaker pod please let me know. Any other options would be appreciated. I only use the intercom system and not the speakers for listening to music and comunicating with my bsr.
Regards,
Ed

Remove the left rear speaker and you will see the 2 screws that secure the holder. I had the one on my 2006 off until I remounted it before selling the bike.

Thanks. I wish they were screws! The base plate appears to be riveted into place from the outside and then covered with the trim. I might contemplate cutting/drilling out the rivets and then use screws or double sided tape to re-install when I use the tour pak again-unless I can think of something else.

Thanks for that. Any idea what the part number or description is for the kit?

zoom and view 2 - is exactly what you want - and in fact if it was avail in 2007 it would have saved me bux - id have gotten a street glide or even a standard and added this unit and the radio and been completely happy.

doubledee, it's been a year or so since I diasassembled the premium leather tour pak pods to have them recovered.  As I recall, the passenger headset connector is secured by the cover flap and a threaded ring that's accessible when the flap is lifted.  The connector itself is threaded and the ring threads on to the connector securing the flap.

With the ring removed, the connector will slip inside the pod where it can be disconnected from the circuit board(?).

Also, HD offers an alternative passenger headset connector/PTT harness as part of the detachable tour pak kit offered for '09 and newer Ultras.  I suspect the accessory harness could be adapted for use on your bike.

Good luck with your project.

Thanks Carl. Probably going to go with a rider to rider Interphone F4 or similar bluetooth headset and keep all the contorls and headphone connector intact on the Tour Pak for when I need to use it. The price of a Blue Tooth headset with music capabilities is similar to the HD kit which stays with the bike when sold and has added the advantage of being used with any bike if I ever decide to change bikes one day. It also makes thins a lot simpler this way-I think!
Cheers,
Ed.
