Intercom on 2010 SESG
« on: November 23, 2011, 09:25:37 AM »

I'm considering installing the Boom Audio & intercom kit on my 2010 SESG. I currently have the XM module in place so I already have the non ultra overlay wiring harness.  Does anyone have any experience with intercom kit? Will the radio recognize the kit or will I have to have the radio reprogrammed by the dealer? If so do I need to put my stock ECU map back into the bike? I currently am running a TTS tune.

Any input is welcome.

Mike

That sounds like an awful lot to go through for a CB.  Have you considered wireless intercom?

Mike, yes, the HK will need a software download to turn "on" the intercom function; Iron Cross Audio can do this for you, as well as your dealer.

HD offers two BAMI kits.  Since you have the non-Ultra overlay harness (NUOH) already, you would get p/n 77108-09A.  The 77107-09 version would not be compatible with the NUOH already installed.  I have the 77108-09 kit on my bike w/ CB.

Don't know about whether you'd need to reinstall the OEM ECU for the digital download.

From what I have seen the wireless systems cost close to what I can get the HD one for.. it would be mainly when we ride 2 up

Thanks

Thanks Carl.. how do you like the system? Did the kit come with everything you needed for the install?

Mike, here is a link to the installation instructions for the 77108-09A kit; a list of the included parts is found at the end:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J04977.pdf

If you're only interested in the intercom function, the only additional items required are rider and passenger headsets and, of course, the download to turn "on" the intercom function in the HK radio.  The CB function requires the module and CB antenna.

Assuming you have chrome handlebar switch housings, you'll want to buy a chrome lower left housing to replace the OEM housing on your bike to accommodate the PTT/squelch switch.

Good luck with your project.

I have the HD Intercom kit for my SERG. I also have the Scalia Bluetooth Wireless unit. The HD Unit is MUCH better, both for intercom and listening to music and if you buy the NIM you have your GPS there as well.
HD unit is worth the difference and you don't have to remember to recharge it.

Oh, I forgot the flash. HD Dealer did mine for free and it only took a few minutes. Part # for the download is in the catalog. Very easy deal.
