All, thanks for your responses and sharing your views.

@Jerry: good points, you're right, if somebody wants to do damage, there are other ways
@CAHDBIKER: that's exactly my feeling - I was waiting >15 years to get my first own Harley - I want to keep it for some time. But then, what am I paying insurance for - not that I want to use it, but in the worst case...

I think I'll forget the lock and spend the money on other things to make my baby look more shiny and special   :orange:

On the "bent the tang" discussion - I think my English is not good enough to understand this - but then I don't think I need to :2vrolijk_09:

That opening pressure/spring tension can actually be adjusted.  There's a metal tab on the back of the fuel door (the mounting screws go through it) with a tang that you can bend to give more or less opening pressure on the door.  Not uncommon that over time you lose a bit there.  Happens so gradually often not noticed.  I bent my tang (hmm, that doesn't sound at all right ??? ) again a couple years ago.  Door pops right up.

Yup,, I messed around with that 'Tang' thing and like my 'Tang' thing, after awhile it looses it's spring and dosent provide much lift as did when it was new and unused. So i gave up on trying to make the 'Tang' thing springy again and will stick with the manual lift technique   :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:
