aux plug
« on: January 18, 2012, 09:49:56 AM »

I have a 01 SERG and from my understanding when the cd changer was added the aux plug on the radio no longer works. I would be willing to sacrifice my cd player for the aux plug to work for my MP3 player. I use a cm transmitter now but would rather use my aux plug. TIA

Do you have any plugs going to your Auxiliary Input port on the front of the radio? If not then the Aux Input may still work. Have you tried plugging in your MP3 player to the Auxiliary Input port.

On his 01 SERG the aux input doesn't even report as "Aux" Jim.  It says "CD".  The 2000s do the same thing even though they don't have the CD deck.  Because the CD deck isn't connected to the 2000 model bikes the aux jack still works though.  On his 2001 if he removes the CD player the aux jack will become available again.

yes, I have plugged in my player and nothing, the tour pak  want on so the cd player wasn't  connected. I even tried another cord to make sure that wasn't the problem.

Hey , Twolanerider can you just unplug the cd player at the tour pack without completely removing it for the aux plug to work ?

Not as I remember.  Has to be disconnected completely or the radio still thinks "something" is there.

It's been several years since the one time I did that though.  Was on a bike whose CD deck was skipping all the time and no one knew (then) where to find parts.  But I think I remember trying the radio with just the deck out of the tour pak and still had no aux jack active in the radio.  Then removed everything else and had a functional aux jack.  The radio still displayed "CD" for the aux port.  But it worked as you would expect it to.

It looks like you need to remove the CD player. You learn some thing new every day. Let us know if removing the CD player does the trick just in case some one else runs across the same thing.

When you say remove the cd player are you talking about more  than just Rove the tour pak? Are you suggesting remove the wiring from the head unit?

Yes disconnect all the wires going to or coming from the CD player. You do not have to physically remove the Player unless you want to.

As i type the tour pak is sitting on my pool table therefore the cd player is not connected to the head unit.after I get a little more coffee in me I will go out to the barn and give it another try.

I guess there is no  way to make this plug work without changing out the head unit. :-\. Guess I will just continue to use the little fm transmitter I have, works pretty good and don't want to spend the money for a new head unit now I installed an elf amp and Polk audio speaker this weekend and what a difference, good volume and quality sound and from what I understand the speakers will improve with use.
