Craftsman garage door opener
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:02:18 AM »

Has anyone had issues with the garage door opener opening a craftsman garage door opener? I didn't have any issues with my old garage door but recently bought a new craftsman and haven't been able to figure out how to hardwire the reciever. I have tried every configuration at the opener that I can think of and even attempted to hardwire it to the button at the entrance.
I know that the reciever is seeing the bike and that it is working, you can here it activate with the light switch but it will not operate the door. Any suggestions or has anyone had the samething and figured it out?

I had the same problem, get rid of the hardwire button and repalce it with a simple button, the sensor is to smart , you need a dumb button.

If you have the Craftsman that's manufactured by Chamberlain, and it comes with the fancy wall panel display, then you will need to eliminate that fancy wall panel and just use a simple switch.  I have the Chamberlain version, and since my wife and I like the features of the wall display (temperature, time, battery state of charge (it has a battery backup), etc.), I chose to just use one of the remotes that came with the Chamberlain instead of the Harley system.  It works much better than the Harley system ever did with my old Genie, with a much longer range.  I don't miss the Harley system at all.

Glad to know that I am not the only one having the issues. My wife and I definitely like the features of the new wall mount display. I think that I will keep the remote with me, or have her open it with her phone. Thanks for the responses.

Craftsman garage door opener SOLVED
« Reply #4 on: April 12, 2013, 04:15:20 PM »

PROBLEM SOLVED.  Guys, I found out an easy way to pair the Harley opener with the Chamberlain/Craftsman wall button.  Mine is the motion sensor control with the temperature displayed.  Remove the control and solder your Harley wires as shown in the second picture.  If you want to make sure you have the correct wires, jump them with a pocket knife while plugged in and the door should go up or down when you remove the short (knife).
Let me know if you have any questions.

Mine's not a Craftsman, but I'm having the same problem.  Time to tear in to the electronics!  If I can't figure it out, I'll try the "dumb button" approach.

Thanks!

I did this with my chamberlain unit. Works like a charm. Just solder the Harley wires (red and red/black) to the switch on the back of the circuit board. This would be on the remote. You my have to buy another one since this one will be staying with the Harley transmitter.

Mine is the old style Craftsman, the big pad and two smaller buttons, but I still cannot get mine to work.  The receiver clicks and the light flashes but that is it.  Very frustrated.  Any advice would be great.
