Hidden Tour Pak Mounts
« on: February 16, 2012, 12:43:07 PM »

I'm waiting on the Street Glide to come in and was looking for a mount set up for the tour pak. This bike will use the pak on trips and not every day. I would like to keep things as stream lined as possible in keeping with the SG lines. I see there is someting from FBI and there is the harley mount which is somewhat visible.
Would anyone care to comment on the aftermarket vs the harley mounts?

I would say if you are using a full size tour pack, and you are going to load it down, go with the factory. Personally I would take the mounts off when not in use, they look like crap. I use the FBI setup (see below) with a chopped tour pack or BSR backrest, and it works great. Others use the FBI with a full size pack, not sure about that though. FBI sells a bolt on one as well for the full size.

I think the Fat Baggers works with the sissy bar mounts and the harley has to have another bracket on the bike. It must be the extra bracket that stands out. I'll have to see if I can find a good pict of the stock to compare. Thanks for the reply.
BTW I have the Kury plate bracket ordered.

Actually both the passenger backrest and the tour pak work off the FBI mount. You have to purchase a separate adapter to adapt the passenger backrest. Stock the bike comes with a 2 post setup, you have to replace it with a 4 post setup to use a tour pak. Both the 2 and 4 post setups are UGLY!! I have attached a picture that you can open and zoom in and see the FBI setup on my bike. Maybe somebody can post the 2 and 4 post for comparison.
