« on: March 12, 2012, 06:12:15 AM »

The 4 head bolts on the header is there a Torque Specification ? or do you just go by feel on how tight you torque the bolts. I just put a new header on just trying to find out.

Torque specs for most all fasteners - these from my 2012 service manual for the cyl head exhaust flange nuts.  Unsure what year your bike is but would think these are correct for it as the torque values are the same as for my 2007 bike.

Tighten bottom nut of rear cylinder head exhaust flange to 9-18 IN Lbs (1-2 Nm) then tighten top nut to 100-120 IN Lbs (11.3-11.6 Nm).  Final tighten bottom nut to 100-120 IN Lbs (11.3-11.6 Nm).

Moving to front cylinder - reverse the process and tighten the top nut first to the lower value then the bottom to full value and then top to full value.

Don't want to deform the gaskets when tightening the flange nuts.

A shop manual is $$$ well spent if you work on your own bike.
