SERT software
« on: February 27, 2012, 05:29:27 PM »

Actually, two questions. First, should I have received software and an instruction manual after having the Screamin' Eagle Pro Tuner installed by the dealer on my bike? Second, by installing this tuner along with the V&H 2 into 1 Big radius move my rpm redline?

Software is sold separately, rev limit can be adjusted with the software, but the dealer may or may not have done it.

You should have got the VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface) Orange rectangular unit with the screamin eagle logo on it.
This is used to communicate between your bikes ECM and PC, it also stores the calibration loaded onto your bike.

Are you sure it stores the map? I thought it was just a interface module to talk to the ECM and all maps arr saved on the computer. This is why you need the software and cables which is sold separately.

I received the VCI. When I checked for online purchase, it is sold as a kit with the software and the manual (cables must be purchased separately). I do realize that I can download the manual online, but for almost $500, I believe I should have received the software and manual as well. I sent an e-mail to the sevice dept. of the dealer who did the installation several days ago, but have yet to receive a response. It's really no big deal. I just like to have all info and manuals for everything I've had done or installed on the bike. I also make sure that I keep all original parts that may have been replaced so that the bike could always be restored to it's original state. As for the rev limit, I guess I'll just have to try contacting the service department again and hope somebody remembers what was done.

You still need the software and cables which are sold seperalty.
When ever a map is loaded to the bike it is saved to the VCI.
This is how it works,
Connect VCI and cables to bike and computer
Select map to load.
Map is then loaded to your bike via the SEPST software
Map loads to the VCI first then from the VCI to the ECM saving a copy to the VCI.

So if something was to go wrong with the tune on your bike you can reload the previous map from the VCI itself. The tuner software has this option when loading maps.

Every SE tuner I've had installed has moved the rev limiter about 500 rpms.

Where can you download the manual online?

The first iteration of the manual, from like '07, is readily available on the WWW, but it ain't worth the time to fetch it.  Unless you know somebody who has the software and is willing to share, you're just going to have to buy a software disc from "the man".

But even the most up-to-date SEPST manual isn't all that great.  Not much pertinent to using a SEPST, at least not directly, but a great H-D tuning manual is available off the http://mastertune.net site.

You can also purchase the Screamin' Eagle Pro Super Tuner Electronic Training Course CD which is really helpful to walk you through it. One of the techs at my dealer actually took me back into the shop & kind of gave me a tutor session to give me some heads up on some specific things about the tuner itself which really helped me, although the CD was
helpful, it was a little vague about things but never the less still helpful.
