I have a custom made for me (stock trailer built to order), all aluminum Thule. I'm happy with it.

Porthole,

I have two questions after observing the other photo you posted of your trailer with the bike inside:

1. Looks like tie down straps on you Rear Turn Signal Bar. Do you use them that way as an anchor point?
2. How have the floor mounted tie downs worked for you? I have used that style before and had problems with them breaking while in use. The D-Rings would expand and come loose.  [smiley=oops.gif]
But that could have something to do with my driving style  [smiley=2cr_01.gif] and the mountains in WV not quite meshing together....... [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Have since gone to the steel heavvy duty style.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

 Thank you for your reply!

I don't know why the straps are hanging on the taillights, brain fart maybe. That picture was taken when I first brought the trailer home just to look to see how the bike fit.
I use the luggage rack for the rear tie down.

So far the tie downs have been OK. I have been hauling a 900 pound lawnmower in there and I usually crank down pretty hard on the straps to keep it from moving around. Although, it is my understanding that these tie downs may or may not be of the welded d-ring style. But, they were from the factory for a "motorcycle trailer".

The trailer has torsion axles and the ride appears to be very smooth compared to other trailers I have pulled.

TORSION IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!!

Reef down on the bike straps, turn up to boost and put it in 'D" for "Drag"!

The trailer also came with [highlight]recessed floor chocks [/highlight]( and tie downs) like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/24-Flip-Up-Motorcycle-Wheel-Chock-Recessed_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50072QQihZ002QQitemZ4631978276
I had tried and cancel having them installed but was too late.  like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BIKE-PRO-Motorcycle-Wheel-Chock-Black-Removable-Chocks_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50072QQihZ019QQitemZ290009299768

I have to agree, I have the same recessed chocks and it is virtually impossible to load by yourself with ease.  I do it, but it is a pain and eventually I feel like I'll dump a bike.  I should just get the bike pro, but too lazy and don't haul the bike very often so I have put it off.  Maybe this post will be my motivation to get them.

I have other reasons to buy one of those small folding utility trailers.  One of the heavier units will allow a load of 1600 or 1800 pounds.  Should take a dresser just fine.  I want to be able to fold the trailer up and keep it stored in my garage (without taking up an entire bay).  I'm just curious about other's experiences with these small folding, stand up type trailers.

PHAZE,
I don't know if you're talking about a Kendon standup or not.  I've had one for several years, I don't use it much but it's a very nice trailer and very well built.  As soon as I can, I plan to replace it with an enclosed one but at the moment I'm in the same situation as you with no place to store it without renting something.

I've seen the Kendon trailers (and some cheaper knock offs).  I'm actually thinking about more of a multi-purpose kind of thing.  I'm now without a pick-up and would like to have something for that occasional trip to Home Depot for building supplies, but I'd also like to be able to put a bike track or wheel chock on there to run the bike in for service.  I've never trailered anywhere, but I could imagine it might be convenient to be able to trailer a bike at some point.  It hasn't happened yet, but it could.

I was thinking about something like the unit shown at this site http://www.sportutilitytrailers.com/LongChih/749TC.htm.  Notice that there is a motorcycle rail accessory available.  You could use this to pick up a couple of bags of mulch, sheets of plywood, haul a short canoe, and trailer a bike if it really needed to be trailered.

I just wondered if anyone had experience with this kind of trailer.  It would appear to be useful and the price seems reasonable.  I don't plan on trailering much or far, but I'd like to know I could trailer (or a friend could) if a trailer was required.  I'd appreciate some input.
