Vance & Hines Fuelpak and Throttlepak
« on: March 30, 2012, 09:50:32 PM »

Hi all

I just took delivery of my new 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra. I am thinking of replacing the exhaust with V&H Twin Slash Monsters, Fuelpak and Throttlepak. Curious if anyone would share their experience with this combination. I am also curious if there have been any issues with warrantee support with MoCo.

So far the bike is awesome  ;D. . . just looking for a bit more rumble and zip from the throttle.  :P

Thanks for this site!!! I am pretty new and am impressed with all the contributors.

Grey Ghost, one of my friends has V&H exhaust and Igniton Pack on his 2001 Heritage with good results as  long as you use all Vance and Hines parts you can dial it in pretty easy. However, speaking for myself and a lot of other guys on the site the TTS mastertune , fullsac baffles, open air cleaner and canned stage one map will make you very happy. I have this combo on my 09 SEUC and it runs great, and I didn't lose my good gas mileage.  I used the 1.75 mufflers which are just a little louder than stock at idle, are great for long rides, and don't cost much. On a personal note I used to live in Vancouver (where I have a  lot of cousins) for a year. It was about 1968-spring of 1969 my family rented an old house on 919 E 39th. I googled it and it looks like they ripped it down and built a new one. Went to John Oliver High School. Vancouver is beautiful, but after living in SO Cal we couldn't take the rain.Good luck with your bike.CAHDBIKER

I ran the FuelPak when they first came out, as far as i'm concerned it's junk. Then went to a Power Commander, it's ok, then went to a Zipper's Thunder Max with Auto Tune and have had no problems.

Thanks guys!! I am reading/hearing quite abit about the TTS mastertune , fullsac baffles, open air cleaner and canned stage one map combination and am starting to think that is the way to go. I am interested in getting a bit of a rumble, but not to the point of driving myself nuts on a long ride. After a bit of a ride yesterday, I am planning on coring out the Cat at the same time. It was sort of a cool day and the heat was significant!! I can only imagine what it would be like on a hot day. CAHDBIKER, I can understand your sentiments about Vancouver. It is really beautiful here in the NW and Vancouver is a great starting point for a number of great rides. The twisty's throught the Cascades make for some beautiful scenery and riding experiences. If you are ever back up this way, I would be happy to be a tour guide!! Grey Ghost

please remember - whenever you talk about tuner, pipes, air, warranty at the same time for the same bike - its non-sequitor.

the bike warranty will be fine - but when you mess with the ecm, pipes etc  - the warranty for the engine gets dubious. the dealer that you purchased the bike and the tune from will likely warranty the bike - but the moco wont. if you purchase your tuner add on and pipes from somewhere other than with the bike new its likely the engine warranty will be mostly gone. you might be able to hire a lawyer and make them prove it - but ymmv. the warranty states that its void if you change anything on the engine, the extended warranty says its void if you change anything.

its your money, your bike do what you want - just dont expect the moco to pay for it

First, modification of any part of the bike can void the warranty for that part and any part it impacts.  Notice I said can.  There exists a requirement under federal warranty law for the warrantor to prove that your modification actually did, or could be reasonably assumed to have, cause the failure in question.  Does that mean Harley won't try to jerk you around?  Absolutely not, they've been known to jerk folks around on warranty when there was no modification involved at all.  They tend to be famous for it.

Implying that a dealer will cover the warranty as long as you buy all the parts from him and pay him for all the labor is something you hear in a lot of places.  Believe it at your own peril.  Unless it's in writing from the dealer principle or his legal designee, it's just talk.  I find it to be akin to extortion when they imply they will void your warranty if you buy a TTS or Power Commander, but they will look the other way if you buy a SEPST from them.  I would never buy anything from folks that use such methods, but to each his own.

As for the subject of the thread, I would definitely recommend something like the TTS over the Fuel Pak and Throttle Pak.  The TTS will do everything those two devices will do and much, much more.  And if you are worried about warranty, with the TTS you can easily put the ECM back to stock before you drop it off for warranty work.  That isn't possible with the SEPST.

Do you know anyone else running that setup in your area?? Ask around and see how they like it.
It would be a shame to dump money into something you may not like!
Research!!! LOL

what you want to be comparing to is 07 and newer touring bikes - they dont have to be cvo's. pre 07 and post 07 are completely different.

add on tuners can be a problem on post 07 bikes
