IPOD on 2011 RGU CVO Shutting down while riding
« on: March 29, 2012, 12:13:41 PM »

I have a problem when riding, if I switch from any other selection(am/fm/WB/XM) to IPOD it plays a second or two, then goes silent. I sift thru the selctions back to IPOD & same thing 1-2 seconds of sound then silence. if I shut bike off restart,I get the IPOD back, but If I switch around, then go back to IPOD it acts up like I've explained. Anyone have this I'd liked to know how you solved it. I dread taking it to dealer to lose radio for weeks, All connections seem to be tight.
THANKS

I seem to be getting conflict between my Blackberry & desktop. I see someone was kind e-nuff to provide a a reply from my post, on phone ,but it's not here on site, when I refresh sign off & back on, can't read reply on phone "zoom" not responding!  I seem to think the reply is about an HK download, I am novice on that type issue. But Thanks for responding. Hope to find thread when I close out & re-login? Dam it I hate technology!!

Look in your ipod settings and turn off "shake to shuffle". That seem to help mine. I am going to check my radio firmware too.

How do you check the firmware? Do you ask the dealer? Do yo have a special cable to plug to the computer?

This is a known problem and I have had it on my 2011 RUSE and now on my 2012 CUSE7.  I happened to find a way to at get the iPod back to playing music without having to shut down the bike, turn the iPod off and back on, unplug and replug the iPod, etc., etc., all of which I have done previously.

What I do when this happens is:

Scroll through the various input options - AM, FM, CD, Wx, Aux, etc.  When iPod comes up I IMMEDIATELY toggle the switch on the right handlebar to advance to the next song, then back to the previous song.  Usually do each a couple times - and it doesn't matter if go back first then advance.

This always gets the iPod to playing again for me.   :2vrolijk_21:  Hope this helps.

Do you stick your tongue out the left side or right side of your mouth while doing this, Jerry?   :huepfenlol2:

Part of the problem may be the incorrect terminology and referring to it as an IPOD, instead of iPod.
You may be hurting it's feelings - remember, Mr. Jobs is still watching over the empire!

Shake to shuffle - that would seem to be a contraindication to working correctly on a motor-sickle
