When I have the Garmin off the bike the direction sound works. When I put it on the bike the radio cuts out when you should hear directions but nothing. Whats wrong?

I had the same issue on my street glide when I added the Zumo to it. I added the complete interface and all. After they installed it the service manager was playing with it and had it working. By the time I left and started home it wouldn't come thru the speakers. He took it off and put it on another bike and it worked. They took the faring off and looked at all the wires and it started too work. Put the faring off and it stopped working. It was the connection Behind the faring. They taped it and wire tied it to the radio and it worked fine until I sold it to get my CVO. Good luck.

Did you look to see if the unit's output output volume is turned down?

The Garmin audio output from the radio has its own volume setting.
When the radio audio source mutes to give you nav instructions, turn up the radio volume.

Are you using a Garmin branded or Harley branded?  Only the Harley model will send the signal to the NIM to allow the audio path.  If using anything other than the Road Tech Harley model, you have only the choice of sending the audio to the AUX input and then only hear directions when in AUX mode and unable to use XM, Radio, CD, or Ipod at the same time.

It's the HD one. When the unit indicated directions i turned up the radio volume and it worked. I did not know you had to wait until the unt wanted to talk before adjusting the volume. Al is good.

Great.  At least having to go all over the thing and play with all the settings, you're now more familiar with it.  Enjoy your riding.

On my 2012 SEUC, the Garmin gives verbal directions when using the speakers, but when using the headset all I get is static versus the voice.  Any ideas?

Just went for a ride and I was wrong it still does not work. The radio cuts out by no sound from the GPS. The volume on the GPS is at 100% and the NAV volume on the radio is at 100%. Any new ideas? The GPS sound works great in the car and when I just hold it but nothing from the radio.

It sounds like a bad wireing connection on the motorcycle to  me, sometimes those 1/8" connectors pull out partially, I usually make shure they are
all the way in then tape them so that they can not pull out.

On the CVO, the plug has a threaded lock from the gps to the NIM.  Won't pull apart.

I remember that the nim has a threaded male connector on it but the road tech gps cable that it came with, the female audio connector is not threaded.
