Trying to help a buddy get a new seat for a trip. Called M&M and got a good price on a Mustang # 800-819.  Listed to fit EG's & RG's.  Last nite he called me and was looking at a J&P catalog and said that seat had a disclaimer that it would not fit Screaming eagle bikes from 97-06. What's up? Did we order the wrong seat.  Thanks for any help.

While most would agree the fitment between stock bikes and S.E. bikes are the same, the S.E. version does have a backrest from the factory. A quick trip to the Mustang site reveals the following:

The black, gel coated, 3/16" thick marine grade fiberglass baseplate is open in the middle to accept a Mustang or stock Harley driver backrest kit.

Should you not use the backrest, I believe you will find that it fits.

What price did you get from M&M? Please share that with us.

I could be wrong but the '01 has adjustable drivers backrest.  Which makes it differnt from other bikes with backrest. At least mine does.

Thanks guys.  I don't remember the exact price, but it was substantially cheaper than J&P. The seat did not fit. Too long of a gap at the end of the tank. He tried the filler piece that HD sells, but didn't like the look of it.  Mark from M&M was great to deal with.  Knowing we were leaving on a trip, he paid to have the seat overnighted to him, then second day aired it to my buddy. Then, when we called and said it didn't fit, he said no problem, just return it for a full refund including shipping. Not many vendors would do that. After all that, by buddy would up liking his stock seat after all. We did over 400 miles the first day and 550 miles the third day.
