shifter pawl leak

I have trans fluid leaking out of the shifter pawl area of the trans....looked in the manual and seen no indacatoin of a o-ring or anything  to stop the seepage..,,,anyone else tackled this issue yet?...not lookn foward to pulling the trans...( 2001 fltrsei2).....headpan

HEADPAN,

I'm gettin' old, and my memory wasn't worth chit even before I got old, but I believe you can get to the shifter pawl & shaft without pulling the trans.

the seal is replaced by removing the inner primary...use the cometic seal # OS041 instead of the MOCO seal as it has a spring tension ring...... dont need to go into the trans.

Suggestion to you if you wanted an chrome inner primary now is the time to do it.   The inner primary must come off and thus there should be no charge other than the approx 285 for the chrome one your having the stock one replaced.
