Pitting chrome on rear view mirrors
« on: April 15, 2012, 10:43:17 PM »

Anyone have this problem? I know I live and ride near the beach (I park inland). I always try and wash the bike after each ride. I did get the bike used.

Common problem? I will change them when one of the little 'bubbles' cracks open.

Carl,
Our Inferno Orange (The fastest, btw!) springers were the first production run of the 08 model year.
They were built in the summer of 07 which would make them nearly 5 years old now.
The backs of the mirrors take a lot of abuse from debris in the wind and are usually the first thing to start pitting and peeling.
To answere your original question, yes I have pitting on my mirrors also!

Yep, and don't forget the headlight rusting from the inside out (paint discoloration), would have hoped it was back primed!
