My 2008 FLTRI was doing this on my last 800 mile round trip a few weeks ago.  Might start out fine in the mornings, and a some point during the day, I would stop for gas and it would be idling at 1800-2000rpm when I pulled to a stop.  Would do the same thing when restarted, and would come and go all day.  When restarted the next morning, same fast idle.  2nd gas stop, and it was normal again.  I could roll the throttle off manually and it would slow to normal, but as soon as I let go of the grip it would pull back to 1800-2000 again.  Started it the next morning after I got home, and it was normal again!  This is with a TTS tuner, and I never have the throttle open when I shut it down, so the idle "memory" issue isn't in play...

got this from HTT site.

quote: The turning of the ign off/on only works on a bike that the idle stays high. A factory reflash was released to solve that issue years ago. The easiest way to stop that from happening is to NOT switch the bike off with the "Run" switch. Take your right hand OFF the throttle and use it to switch the ign key Off.

This problem comes from people switching the bike off with there hand resting on the throttle and the ECM learns that it see the throttle slightly twisted so it learns that new position. The dealer reflash changes the learn to 8 seconds after the bike was switched off in the hopes that the ride has remove his/her hand from the throttle by then.

I have a habit of using the kill switch
