Fairing GPS Mount
« on: August 06, 2006, 08:03:02 PM »

Does anyone know if the fairing mount harley gps mount fits on the SE Ultra's?

It doesn't look like there's enough room with the leather dash pad..

Hi Flying Ace,
I have seen some using the dash mount by modifying the dash pad (cutting it or removing it). Several members have stated there was some problems with the GPS coming loose from the mount just enough to shut down and restart the GPS so it was going on and off alot and was annoying. Some have also said that they had to cut a large hole in the inner fairing to mount it and that would mean having to leave the mount in place forever and if you changed the GPS you would have to replace the painted inner fairing or have a worthless mount just sitting there.
The way electronics keeps upgrading and changing I would think twice about a fairing mount and even though it doesn't look as sleek I would use a handlebar mount so you can change easier.

 :) Hey,

Harley make a handle bar mount now for the GPS.  I have bought it and will install it when they replace my outer fairing for paint.

It is wired through your sound system.  It is now in the new Parts book.
