GPS Issues, need some advice (help)
« on: June 25, 2012, 02:10:35 PM »

Just installed the 665 a couple of weeks ago and am having a couple of issues.
1) Can not get the weather or traffic to work. I do have a XM subscription to all but when I go to "subscriptions" on the unit, it shows 195 "channels" but no "data". Called XM and verified that I did have it on my account. The "temperature" setting on the bottom right or left options does not work either (i assume because I am not getting the weather info)
2) the current speed limit will show in the bottom right hand corner until I put in a destination (just riding along with the map showing) and then it disappears. I have double checked this many times where the speed limit info is available and as soon as I hit a destination, it disappears. I called Garmin support and they just told me to take the unit back to the dealer and get a new one. I hate to do that as I have hours into "Custom Routes" on this unit not to mention some great rides under the "logs"...
3) sometimes it will automatically go to showing the map when I get underway and other times it will not and I have to hit the "map".

I appreciate any help from you guys and gals out there as always!

You can save your routes, favorites or any user data to your computer with mapsourse. Then get a new unit, connect it to the computer and send all that data back to the new unit.

Speed limit indicator doesn't show because it's not a selected data item when running a route.  With a route active, select one of the data boxes and change it to speed.  Speed must be selected for speed limit to show.

Garmin doesn't include Mapsource anymore and offers a program called Basecamp to use instead.  It's a free download from Garmin.
