How do you adjust those dang passing lamps?
« on: September 11, 2006, 11:28:00 PM »

I just put in the 65 watt bulbs for high and low beam on the headlight. I put in the 50W bulbs in the passing lamps. Plenty of light now, but the passing lamps are shining way too low. I need to raise them up so they shine down the road a little further. Is there an adjustment for this or do you have to bend the housing upwards?

You need to remove the bolt that holds the turn signal on (3/16 ball tip allen) and let the signal hang down. That will allow access to the 9/16" nut under the spotlamp. You'll need a Snap-On FRX181 Socket to get to the bolt as there is a wire running through. Loosen the bolt and then you can adjust the lamps.
Here is a pic of the socket.

Damn!  Cool socket...I could have used one of those when I did the passing lamps on my old road king!  Never knew there was such a socket...Jim, you are a wealth of knowledge!

Er - can we make much/any adjustment vertically with the fancy mount we have on the SE touring bikes?

My old 'King and Classic had domed spacers that fit into the cup under the passing lamps but I don't have those on the SEEG.

When tightened down (with the proper Snap-On socket of course
