Hard starting issues
« on: June 18, 2012, 10:29:59 PM »

I have been having some issues when starting the bike sometimes. Its like it doesnt want to kick over, and when it does sometimes, it will blow some gaseous smoke out the air cleaner but wont start. Sometimes it will backfire when starting, other times it just starts normal....any suggestions as to what could be a starting point to fixing this. My bike is a 2008 SERK with thundermax and Supertrapp 2 into 1 phantom pipe with baffle removed. I have had this set up for a while...Thanks

Highly likely you need to replace your compensator...

Good bet there from Scott.  Another idea that might be worth trying first just because it's free and easy is to reload your base map.  Have screwed with few Thundermax autotuning ECMs that over time guessed wrong as it autotuned enough to cause poorer running and/or hard starting symptoms.  Probably not it.  But it's hard not to try free and easy options first.
