Do it yourself Tire Change
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:14:54 AM »

Has anyone had success in changing the rear tires, (240/40 18) by themselves?  I hate having to pay 500 dollars for a tire and install but I don't want to hurt the chrome rims.  I have a car tire machine so I could easily break the bead, then use rim protectors with tire irons as I have done with smaller aluminum wheels.  I am planning to use dyna beads to balance as it has worked well on other bikes.  Any suggestions/ideas/comments/experience on tire changing versus pulling out the visa card would be appreciated.

Dynamic beads are O.K. only if you drive moderately. Hard fast acceleration will not let the tire ballance and will adds to the vibration when accelerating. A lot of shops will not take responsability when changing.g wide tire and rims.
