long legged women
« on: June 26, 2012, 01:14:39 AM »

I added the adjustable peg mounts made my Kuryakyn. Helped  lot, my future said. I prefer the look of floorboards. Add the chrome kit from Harley. Her long legs just wasn't happy. She likes the FB's better but needed more room.
So I head to the shop to see what I can do. I custom fab.. brackets and mounts from time to time. I made a adapter out of 1.5 inch thick, cold roll steel. made it 3.5 inchs long by 1 inch wide. Drilled 2 holes to fit the 2 existing holes for the peg mount and floorboards. The top hole is for strength, the bottom is what holds the adapter and the top of the FB mount in place. Used a longer bolt for the FB mount to the bottom threaded hole. Used the original bolt that came with the FB mount in the top hole. Drilled and tapped a new bottom mount hole for the bottom of the FB mount. The Floorboard mounting bracket has a slot and the bolt has a stop. you just put the bolt in and tighten this will allow the FB mounting bracket to slide to the desired threaded hole. Kinda cool if you ask me. This lowered the FB about 1 inch, maybe 1.1 inches. Well she likes it. Said it fits her like a T.
2 hours worth of work, some scrape pieces of steel and now I have the look I want and she has her comfort.
every one is happy.
If any one is interested I will add some photos of the progress. Waiting on the paint to cure.

I used the kuryakyn 7527 adjustable passenger peg mount
went to 50378-07B Swept Wing Shape floorboard kit. comes complete with everything you will need to change to FB's
They match the rider's FB's

I'm interested in pix. I've adjusted the fb's for my wife and although she hasn't complained, I know she misses the passenger highway pegs we had on the 02 EGU. Kury doesn't make anything for the SERGU according to their website.

Kuryakyn makes them. you have to research to find the one that fits the FB mount you are using.

I am using the HD floorboard mount kit 50378-07B which takes the kuryakyn 4353
here is a list that may help you.
scroll down to see the fitments, using the HD part number for the FB mount you are using.

Just realized you have the ultra. So you must have the adjustable HD FB's. If I am right then there is no retractable passenger cruise peg available. You can change the mount, that is if you don't mind losing the adjust-ability of the FB.
But you can do what I did, I'm quiet sure of.

i put this on the general CVO page and thought since it is for a Street glide because of some differences of the ultra's, I would do it here also. Oh, Road glides to.
I decided to go with floorboards on the Street Glide. FB's are more comfortable on long trips.
My future has long legs, I love em.
So, after installing the 50378-07B FB kit she needed more leg room. I went to the shop just to see what I could do. I make custom brackets and mounts from time to time for folks.
here is what I came up with.

This is the factory mounting on the bike
This is the original height with the FB's installed.
This is with the bike on the jiffy stand.
This is the adapter in the raw. top hole is a support hole. you use the installed bolt that came with the FB kit here.
Middle hole is used to mount top FB bracket through it to the bottom hole of bike mounting point. you use a 1/2 inch longer bolt there. It will have to go through the FB bracket and the adapter.

Bottom hole is threaded to take the bottom bolt on the FB bracket.

installed on bike

The adapter adds 1/2 inch outward but it is about the same as some of us do to the Riders FB for comfort but drops the boards about 1 inch

Ended up taking around 2.5 hours to make and paint + install.
She loves em

It's not how deep you go, it's how hard you rub the sides!
