Wow, 400 Watts is not enough for you?   :o  I don't have any problems hearing mine at 70, 80, or 90 mph.  Loud and clear...in fact my dealer always jokes at me when I go down there because they say they know I'm coming in because they can hear my stereo a block away inside the store.... ::) :D  I definitely have no issues with the stock system.

Have you set the AVC to 3 bars?  I thought the stereo was a bit underpowered at higher speeds, but once I toggled the AVC, plenty of volume.  What is nice is that it also lowers the volume when you slow down / stop, and your not blasting out your friends if they are trying to talk with you.

I also wear ear plugs, and this knocks down the road and wind noise, I can hear the stereo much better.

I have mine right in the middle.  There are 6 speakers up front, two in back.  Going to get a lot more sound from the front 4 pointing straight at ya, the 2 in the lowers canceling out some road noise and filling in, than the 2 in the saddlebags.  Those are pretty much pointing straight up, and fill in some sound behind me.  The one that benefits from them the most is the passenger.
