Oil out the air filter!
« on: July 19, 2012, 10:03:38 PM »

Got caught in a rain storm last night. First one with the street glide and had the lower vents open and with the open sides of the air filter it got wetter then usually and dripped on the engine and underside and on my garage floor over night . I thought I had a oil leak until I saw the oil drip out of the air filter!!! Glad all is well!!!! :orange: :2vrolijk_21:

The onwers manual says not to apply oil to the air filter. I also notice oil coming out of my filter what's up with that ??

You don't oil a paper filter, which is what comes stock on the bike, but if you have a K&N, you DO oil it (after cleaning/service....they come pre-oiled.  It is not unusual for oil to mist the filter...try running the bike 1/2 quart low on the hot oil level.  A lot of motors will just puke it out until they get to their "happy" place.

That's why they include a rain sock with the bike...

It was supposed to be with all the other "add-on" stuff, like the indoor bike cover and "gold" key, etc.  If you didn't get it, have your dealer get one for you.  Or you can buy them from the accessory catalog.

My SESG sometimes pukes oil from the air filter, but only in the mountains when there is a lot of up and down shifting. Try running with 1/2 qt. of oil removed.

I drilled out the little oil drain holes in the rocker support plates to 1/8", and countersunk them. Not a drop of oil in the A/C now!

Remove them from the bike to do this, of course...
