Repacking for Fulsac baffles in CVO cans
« on: July 15, 2012, 11:26:13 AM »

Burned though original packing and decided to repack and switch to Fulsac. Talked with Steve several times and ordered up last week. Got Baffles three days later. Can you ever say enough about GREAT customer service?
Also got some Techmat off ebay but am now trying to figure the best way to repack. Plan is to use original screen and techmat in place of old material. Wondering about a direct wrap to the baffle instead or in addition.
Went with the 1.75 which are now cut differently and should result in being quieter than the old style. Also went with the 1/2" techmat. I lean to the just barely louder than stock side obviously.
What have others done?

I put my fullsacs cores in with no padding.   Too loud for me and my ultra classic.    I then rewrapped them with the factory padding (has less than 5000 miles) and now has the perfect sound.  Nice deep rumbles when getting on it.

IMHO, wrap the screen as OEM and tight against the outside wall of the can, leave the gap between the screen and your baffle tube. (about an inch IIRC)
I lean to the quieter version also and this worked great for me!

I removed the OEM material and wrapped the Techmat around the screen twice (not tightly). This will give you a more quiet sound.

I tried wrapping the packing around the baffle without the screen thinking it might be a little quiter, but it was just the opposite. I had a headache after the first 100 miles. I now have the screen in with the packing around like stock. Perfect sound for me now. :bananarock:
