Fuel Moto Jackpot Head Pipe Install?
« on: December 02, 2012, 09:29:32 AM »

I received my coated Fuel Moto Head pipe and went to install and noticed that the stock pipe has a tapered flange for the graphite gasket is also tapered to slip into and the Fuel Moto unit is not.  I have new OEM HD gaskets ready to install and just wanted to ask if any one had issues during installation. Please see photos below.

Thanks for any assistance.

if you still have the old gaskets in the ports and they are not damaged use them.
The FM pipe will fit better because the old gaskets are already tapered from the OEM pipes.
Just a thought.

What he said.  Or, if you've already removed them, or they are damaged, get the SE gaskets instead of the stock OEM type, as suggested above.

fuelmoto recommends the use of stock exhaust gaskets with their headpipe.

I'm waiting to call FM today.  Did some searching and found this on another forum:

I called Fuel Moto and they said I could use Vance & Hines gaskets part number VH22889, as long as I doubled them up (2 gaskets, back-to-back, per each cylinder). They said that because they are so thin, they could potentially cause their head pipe to contact the cam case if only a single V&H gasket was used.

HD uses two different gasket types. Yours is the later tapered gasket to go with the late model tapered pipe and the early gasket is not tapered. The end of the pipe pictured is what HD used with the early type gasket.
