Is there any way to make the radio buttons brighter? At night they are very hard to see.

you can change the contrast but not the brightness.  You can scroll to it by pushing in the volume button multiple times.  If that doesn't work, switch your sunglasses to clear glasses at night.  :huepfenlol2:

Wonder if you contacted Iron Cross Audio to see what they would recommend, probably would involve sending the unit to them, seeing you have a new bike, you may not want to go that far.

You can make the buttons brighter, but to do so, the screen will get brighter also.
The faceplate has a photo-sensor behind the lens that makes the backlight brighter or dimmer depending on the ambient light.
This setting can be changed so the unit stays bright (or dark).

from an FM screen

press and release the 1,3,and OK buttons at the same time.....this will enter a diagnostic screen.
use the up or down arrows on the faceplate until you get to a screen that reads "Diagnostic Photocell"
It will be set to the default "automatic" setting.
Use the "change" button to switch between "day", "night" and "automatic"
The day setting will increase the intensity of the backlight...but also the screen.
Press "exit" to get back to normal functions

Please try to resist playing with the other settings when in the diagnostic menu.
Bad things can happen.

Or, if you prefer to still keep the auto dimming feature you might try adding some window tint film over the photocell.  I've used that method in cars to change when the auto headlights turn on; just have to experiment with how dark a tint you might need.  I've never tried it with the H-K radio, but I'm guessing it might work if you can figure out where the photocell actually is behind that faceplate.  :nixweiss:

Photo-sensor is in the upper right corner of the lens.
But filming the lens will have the opposite effect of what muddypaws is trying to accomplish.
The darker the sensor gets, the dimmer the backlight will be.

Oops.  Thanks for catching my mistook.  I thought about whether I had that backward after I had posted and left the house.
