I know this is beating a dead horse, but here we go again. I just turned 20.000 miles on my 2010 Road Glide, seems to be the magic number on the dreaded Compensator sprocket, that the MOCO said it had fixed. Of course the bike is just out of warranty, so mother (and that's only half a word) Harley said too bad, so sad, not our problem.
Harley has had this problem since 2007, and the fix was for a while, replace it with the Screamin Eagle sprocket, only if the customer complained, and the bike was under warranty, any one who didn't know about the problem, the stealers told them "that the noise is normal", or replaced it and charged them through the nose, remember most were out of warranty by then.
The problem appears to have been costly to mother Harley, so in 2011, they told everyone we solved the problem, different sprocket! A few of my friends have 2012 EG Limited, just turned 20,000.............guess what just took a chit?
A call to the MOCO, and their answer "you have to take it to the stealer, and they have to call in for after warranty repair"......good luck there.
To show how profound the problem is, go to the stealer, and try to order a Screamin Eagle comp sprocket, 95 % will tell you their on back order for a month, and they only receive an allotment, you may have to wait awhile.
My local stealer service writer, after calling in the request for an after warranty repair................"I can't believe they said no, Harley has known about this problem for a long time"
And the next bike will be a Victory. Harley should have half the loyalty to the customer, that they have for them.
My loyalty will go elsewhere
Spook
