the carb - vs fuel injection issue is the real pita in the situation with a 2000 bike.

anything much larger than 95" with a mm fuel injection is going to be more difficult. hence why i mentioned the 120r. once you get to where your stock fuel injection wont work then you have to deal with the mm system. and your costs go up.

the hd factory reman or hd factory crate engine are the cheapest way to get the thing working properly for the least bux and have a warranty.

also keep in mind that with the factory reman its a fixed price "NO MATTER WHAT" so in this case you KNOW the case is damaged. and the cyls are damaged. the crank is toast due to the oil pump failure. if you carefully read the specs on reman. all the chrome parts are new - all damaged parts are new - in your case for the reman price you will essentially get a NEW s&s mfg hd factory engine but with the new cam chains & oil pump system.

so - case - new or repaired, crank new [shaft is part of rt flywheel], new oil pump, new jug, new pistons, new bearings, redo the heads, new cams, chains or gears et all, new pump plate probably, you could reuse the covers [with reman you get NEW covers included in the price] so whats left???

if your indy can do the job for the same cash, by all means.

but you are going to spend 7 or 8 for new and bigger, plus carb or efi conversion - or 3395 with 1 year warranty and factory vin on the crank case.

im cheap, i like to ride, i KNOW what id do.

310-0282 is 5,995 without fuel or ignition system and has 1 year warranty, they also have a lower compression engine for the same price.
