Dakota Rock
« on: August 15, 2012, 10:34:04 AM »

Just returned from Sturgis which was my 14th trip.  Love the place, the riding is great.  Also loved my 2011 SESG, it rode like a champ.  Although I did bring home an unwanted chip and dent on my front fender from a Dakota rock.  Here's my question.......can I take it to any body shop or motorcycle painter for the repaint on the front fender? I have the Autumn Haze and wondered if the Motor Company the sole supplier of the paint.  Just as a side note I want to paint the entire front fender a solid color to match the lowers and lower portion of the bike and remove the stripes on the front of the fender....just to give it a different look.....

You can take it or ship it to any body/painter who can match the paint. I use a guy in Rio Rancho, NM who's great. If you are willing to ship it to him, I'm confident he'd do a great job for you.

Custom Painted Vehicles did excellent work on repairing a chip in my wifes front fender.  They have lots of custom painted parts around when you drop in.  Excellent service also.

Stone chips are bloody expensive things....with my last bike (sunrise sunglow), I called into a Chemist (Drugstore) and matched her with nail polish for a couple of bucks and saved a fortune...the stealers wanted $50 for a tiny bottle 1oz of touch up paint :)
